yay! so glad!
shanghai in winter isn't really my thing, i guess. haha. it's just a much larger Singapore, with lousy air and water.
anyways, pictures from my trip:
day one: arrival in shanghai, took a eight-nine hours ride in a mini van to huangshan in anhui province.

this is what welcomed us, tired travellers from singapore, in shanghai at about 4 plus in the afternoon, can't say it's very welcoming at all.

picture of the public toilet. i always find the giganitic WC sign hilarious. this is taken at the highway stop for drivers who are driving across different provinces without having to detour to some ulu place for food. so it's like either you eat here, do your toilety stuff here or die of starvation or suffer from urinary tract infection for the rest of your trip.
we reached the hotel at huangshan in the wee hours in the morning, like almost two am or so. so no night picture of the hotel's surrounding. anyway, it was like a ghost town, that little city of huangshan, no nightlife at all.
second day:

morning view of the river that is across the road from the window of the hotel room. the river is the beginning of some river that flows to the qiandaohu place. dun really know about it but apparently it is some great tourist destination. anyways, water and air is supposedly to be excellent here.

on the mini van to the bottom of the mountain. yawns, all veggie fields.

yay! finally, after a super long ride, on the cable car to the starting point of the base point to start our 10km climb of steep narrow steps to our hotel in the mountains.

some pretty views while climbing.

and then finally, check in into hotel room. the view is okay, i guess. second one is the close up of the mountain range.
third day:

first pic: before sun rise.
second pic: korean tourists risking their lives to take excellent pictures and have great views of the sunrise by climbling to the edge of the peak of the mountain where is there is barriers to prevent one from falling down.
third and fourth pic:
was not brave enough (my life worth more that a sunrise) to climb over with them, so sat at the side of the peak, slightly off the steps, to get the second best view.

picture of the hotel i stayed in the mountains from a point halfway to the peak i think.
anyways, was extremely disappointed cos it didn't snowed. i braved the freezing cold (minus2) for nothing. all i saw was frozen streams. damn.
after breakfast, we continued climbing. and i saw this!
it's chains of locks, some with names of couples. supposedly represent everlasting love between couples. but looking at the view closely, the fall down is sure steep.
fourth day:
we got down the mountain and had a detour to the place where
Ang Li filmed to scene of the fight between Chow Yuen Fatt and Zhang Zi Yi. the one among the bamboo forest. apparently the place is famous for it's clear water and the lovers' bridge.
the chinese also seem to have a fetish for wishing, cos i've seen a lot of so called wishing well along the climb...
that's all for now!
next post, chinese massage! ouch!
